Mafātīḥ al-jinān (Arabic: مفاتیح الجنان), (keys to the heavens) by Shaykh 'Abbas Qummi is the most popular book of supplication in the Shi'a world. It contains du'as, supplications, Ziyara texts, practices specific to certain days, months, and occasions, religious practices and manners, as well as some anecdotes narrated from the Prophet (s), Imams (a), and Islamic scholars. Before Mafatih al-jinan, other du'a books were used by the Shi'ites. The compiler of Mafatih al-jinan has included content from other books including Iqbal al-a'mal by al-Sayyid b. Tawus, Misbah by al-Kaf'ami, and Zad al-ma'ad by al-'Allama al-Majlisi.

Hujjat Allah ibn Al-Ḥasan al-Mahdī (Arabic: حُجَّة ٱلله ٱبْن ٱلْحَسَن ٱلْمَهْدِي‎), also known as Imām al-Zamān (Arabic: ٱلْإِمَام ٱلزَّمَان‎) (meaning "Imam of Our Time"), is believed by Shia Twelver Muslims to be the Mahdi, an eschatological redeemer of Islam and ultimate savior of humankind and the final Imam of the Twelve Imams who will emerge with Isa ( Jesus Christ) in order to fulfill their mission of bringing peace and justice to the world. Twelver ShiaS believe that al-Mahdi was born on the 15th Sha'ban 879 CE/ 255AH and assumed Imamate at nearly 5 years of age following the killing of his father Hasan al-Askari.
